Josh Goldstein’s baseball career almost cost him a shot on Love Island USA.

However, the producers liked Josh so much that they allowed him to arrive late to the production of the third season of the show.

It all worked out well, as Josh ended up as the first one out and caught the eye of three of the lovely ladies, coupling up with Shannon St. Clair first.

Josh Goldstein is a 24-year-old college athlete from Haverhill, Massachusetts.

He earned his spot on the show but then his career as a baseball player almost caused him to back out.

He played for the SNHU Penmen and had been a team captain as a second baseman for the team.

What happened was that his team made it to the Division 2 College World Series. He realized he had helped lead his team to a possible championship and he said that was more important to him right now.

Luckily, Love Island USA was willing to let him come in late.

“They wanted him to be in Hawaii earlier while his baseball team was going to the (Div. 2) College World Series,” Josh’s mom, Lynn, said.

“He said he was not going to miss the World Series with his teammates. He’s a captain. He’s had a great career there. If they wanted him they were going to have to wait it out.”

The Penmen ended up losing and that freed up Josh to head out and join the cast of Love Island USA. While the producers wanted him on a plane the night his school lost, he had to wait until he moved out of his college apartment.

He made it to Hawaii and made his mark eary on.

Josh came in as the first guy on the show, and three women stepped up to show interest in him. This included Trina Njoroge, Kyra Lizama, and Shannon.

He chose Shannon, but as anyone who watches Love Island USA knows, anyone could steal her away from Josh.

This didn’t happen as only one woman ditched the guy that she chose. Josh and Shannon then had a chance to get to know each other better.

Love Island USA Season 3 airs on Wednesday, July 7 at 9/8c on CBS.
