90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?’s Yara Zaya is getting used to some viewers hate. But recently, TLC fans learned that the Ukrainian native had a rather rough childhood, which could explain why she is fiercely independent.
Yara was on reality TV before
Back in 2014, Yara was featured on a Ukrainian dating show called Love Online. The 90 Day Fiance star’s story aired under the name Issue 2: Raphael and Yaroslava.
While trying to find love at the tender age of 20, Yara, who was a brunette at the time, revealed some interesting facts about her childhood.
Yara opens up about her dad
The entire episode is in Russian but with the help of Google translate and Reddit, we were able to break down a bit of her biography. Yara revealed in the introduction that her parents had separated.
But her mother has put up with an unruly man who would often bring women home to sleep with. Yara also makes a mention of a sister, which fans were unaware that she had since she had not mentioned one while on the TLC show.
It turns out that Yara’s estranged father is of Hungarian background and is a successful businessman. The mother of one also reveals that her father abandoned the family when she was young.
The 90 Day Fiance star then circles back to a memory she recalls from when she is only eight months old. Yara stuns viewers as she tells them it was of her father shoving her mother and grandparents.
Fans also got a chance to meet Yara’s mother, Olga, who surprisingly is very against her daughter dating, let alone thinking of marrying a foreigner due to her own experiences with her husband.
Yara is dumped after three days
While watching the young reality TV star, she comes across as painfully shy and an introvert. This could be due to a lack of confidence since the show was taped before her total facial transformation.
For those who have watched the video, it is hard to reconcile that these two versions of Yara are actually the same person. As the dating show continues on, her online beau gifts her flea market earrings, which she is thrilled with.
Another scene shows Yara and her date, Raphael taking a row on the river. Yara sat back while her man did all the work. Now, that is the Yara TLC fans know.
Raphael’s family felt Yara was dishonest, and this notion is still felt today by some 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? viewers. Yara rarely opened her mouth when speaking throughout her whole appearance, always trying to mold to what he wanted from her.
The episode ends with the meet-up being a swing and a miss as Yara’s date tells cameras that she has no humor and her hair is a mess. After being told the reviews, Yara admits to having had a nose job and getting fillers.
90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? airs on Sunday at 9/8c on TLC.
