And Just Like That a lot has changed in the world of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). Apart from losing the love of her life, Miranda Hobbes leaving to Los Angeles, and BFF Stanford Blanch moving to Tokyo, she also lost the fourth corner to her girl gang, Samantha Jones.
While real-life actress, Kim Cattrall, who played the sassy PR executive for six seasons on the HBO show, shared no plans of returning to the Sex and The City reboot, Jones’ absence on the show was blamed on a falling out with Carrie.
Moving to the United Kingdon following her firing as Carrie’s publicist, the trio lost contact with their fabulous friend. However, the ending of Season 1 hinted toward a possible reunion for the estranged friends.
Here’s where Carrie and Samantha stand after the And Just Like That finale
The final episode of And Just Like That brought Carrie back to Paris to say one final goodbye to Big on the bridge where the couple reunited in the first movie.
Putting her lifetime lover to rest while wearing a gorgeous orange Valentino gown, immediately after, she thinks to text her PR professional ex-friend who only lives a train ride away from the French city.
Asking if she’s interested in having a cocktail, Samatha replied, “How’s tomorrow night?”
With Carrie confirming the date, it seems like the low long-time friends might be headed toward a road to redemption.
Don’t hold your breath for a Kim Cattrall cameo on And Just Like That
While a Carrie/Samantha reunion may be on mist on the show, don’t hold your breath for Kim Cattrall to reprise her famous role.
And Just Like That creator Michael Patrick King recently gave his answer to Us Weekly on whether or not he thought Kim may change her mind when it came to returning to the SATC spinoff.
“No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That, because she’s said what she had said,” King replied.
Breaking fans’ hearts everywhere, the 67-year-old added, “You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer — you don’t back yourself into a corner. Magically thinking, it’s great to have Samantha. I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again.”
As for Kim, she’s staying busy with her new role on the Hulu show, How I Met Your Father.
