Rick and Marty Lagina, the brothers behind History’s hit show The Curse of Oak Island, strike gold right at the start of the upcoming season, official episode descriptions reveal.

Seismic testing also leads to the discovery of a mysterious underground chamber as the team continue their search for the island’s legendary Money Pit.

New details reveal metal-detecting expert Gary Drayton and team member Jack Begley also make a find which further points to there being a Templar connection to the island.

Recently released episode descriptions give a glimpse of what happens in the first three episodes of The Curse of Oak Island Season 6.

The two-hour premiere airs at 9/8c on November 13, following an hour-long “Drilling Down” special titled “Nothing Will Stop Them”.

The Drilling Down special sees host Matty Blake receive new insight from the Lagina brothers about their treasure-hunting efforts in the lead-up to the new season, and reveals that the operations that have taken place on the island in 2018 have been bigger than ever before.

The official episode description reads:

Matty Blake treks to Oak Island to take a look at the team’s latest and most epic operation yet, as well as get new insight from brothers Rick and Marty Lagina on the many highlights from the first five years of their quest.

The premiere, titled Rick’s Big Bang Theory, then follows events as the team begin their 2018 hunt on the island, including for its legendary Money Pit which some people believe could hold vast amounts of treasure or hugely significant historical artifacts.

The title of Episode 1, Rick’s Big  Bang Theory, is believed to refer to seismic testing the team carry out on the island, which they receive the results for on Episode 3. The description for the premiere reads:

Rick, Marty and the team follow up on last year’s amazing discoveries and continue their search for the elusive Oak Island Money Pit.

The Curse of Oak Island Season 6 Episode 2, titled Gold Rush, then sees the team strike gold for the first time in a groundbreaking discovery, with the episode description reading:

After years of searching, Rick and Marty finally strike gold.

In Episode 3, the brothers and the rest of the Oak Island team then get the results of seismic testing which reveals the existence of an underground chamber which they previously did not know was there. The description for the episode, titled Depth Perception, reads:

The seismic results are in, revealing the existence of a mysterious underground chamber; Gary and Jack make a discovery suggesting another Templar connection.

What else do we know about The Curse of Oak Island Season 6?

The discovery of gold on the Nova Scotian island was previously revealed in trailers for the upcoming season.

The trailers also revealed new technology was used this year which allowed the Oak Island team to “see” underneath the ground in the Money Pit area for the first time.

Footage showed controlled blasts taking place on a physical grid system marked out on the surface using some sort of explosives.

A huge excavation has also been taking place at the island’s Smith’s Cove, with the erection of a cofferdam.

Operations on the island have been continuing late into the year, with large amounts of equipment seen arriving over its causeway as recently as October 26.

Photos circulating online have shown a large-scale operation in the Oak Island swamp in recent weeks.

Local resident Karen Publicover told on her Oak Island From The Other Side of The Causeway Facebook page: “Rumors are they will be doing seismic testing and blasting! There are a least a dozen hard hats visible at any given time.”

Meanwhile, a sneak peek of the season on the History website shows Gary Drayton finding what he describes as another “bobby dazzler” on a lot of land which the team have never previously searched.

The pre-season trailers also reveal the discovery of a previously unknown ancient structure believed to be Roman, as well as a “super-ancient” gem.

Marty Lagina said in one featured interview: “This year is go big or go home.”

The Curse of Oak Island Season 6 returns at 9/8c on November 13 on History, with a Drilling Down special previewing the season airing at 8/7c.
