Real Housewives of New Jersey fans have been following the reunion for the past two weeks, and last night, Teresa Giudice dropped a bomb.
Despite Teresa’s recent separation from Joe, her husband of 20 years, Teresa said on last night’s reunion that she’s open to having another baby. So open, in fact, that she might freeze her eggs.
The reunion had a lot of baby talk
The topic came up because Melissa Gorga, Teresa’s sister-in-law, debated trying for a fourth baby throughout the season. Melissa is mom to Antonia, 14, Gino, 12, and Joey, 9.
Ultimately, Melissa and her husband, Teresa’s brother Joe, decided against trying for another baby for the time being but left the door open for the future.
At the reunion, host Andy Cohen asked a question sent in by a viewer about whether Teresa would consider trying for another child with a new man. “Yes,” Teresa responded, “I would love to have a little boy.”
Teresa’s admission came as an obvious surprise to her castmates. Dolores Catania looked positively gobsmacked by Teresa’s answer, and Margaret Josephs looked surprised as well.
At 47, Teresa would likely need medical intervention to conceive. As the number of eggs decreases with age, the chances of conceiving naturally decline. Freezing eggs would offer Teresa the opportunity to have a biological child via in vitro fertilization in the future.
Jennifer criticized Melissa for considering IVF
At last week’s reunion, Jennifer Aydin accused Melissa Gorga of faking her IVF storyline for the show. Jennifer accused Melissa of being “too self-absorbed” to have a baby even though Melissa is already a mother of three.
However, Jennifer, who has been accused by the other housewives of sucking up to Teresa, didn’t seem to have a problem with her going through with the procedure.
Although Jennifer said that Melissa was “making a mockery” of people who go through infertility treatments, she said that the process would be okay for Teresa because Teresa hasn’t experienced having a son yet.
Teresa is famously a mom to four girls- Gia, 19, Gabriella, 16, Milania, 15, and Audriana, 11. Teresa said at the reunion that she and Joe had considered IVF to try for a boy before Audriana was born, but they never ended up having a son together.
Teresa doesn’t have a new man in mind yet, but she did hint that she’s looking for a type. “My first guy was Italian,” she said, “I want my next one to be Jewish.”
