The Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) and NPACT, the trade organization serving the producers of nonfiction entertainment content, have put forth the nominees for the very first Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards.

The votes are in and Monsters & Critics was part of the voting body that selected the first annual Critics’ Choice Awards Real TV Awards that revealed big news: Netflix got a lot of love (33 nominations)  for their exceptional reality TV programming, and RuPaul continues to be a critics’ darling and favorite.

VH1 will broadcast the awards on Sunday, June 9 and the event will take place on Sunday, June 2 in Beverly Hills.

The pack leader is RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1) earning five nominations including Competition Series, Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, Female Star of the Year (Michelle Visage), Male Star of the Year (RuPaul Charles), and Show Host (RuPaul Charles).

Spinoff RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked! (VH1) was nominated for Unstructured Series.

Next in line for nom love was Netflix’s Queer Eye, garnering four nominations for Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, Lifestyle Show included Fashion/Beauty, Male Star of The Year (Jonathan Van Ness), and Structured Series.

Netflix epic nature series Our Planet and cultural phenomenon Tidying Up with Marie Kondo were nominated for three awards each. They also earned Animal/Nature Show, Limited Documentary Series, and Male Star of The Year (David Attenborough), and the latter for Female Star of the Year (Marie Kondo),

Bob Bain and Joey Berlin will serve as Executive Producers.  The BTJA and NPACT collaborative awards show is adapted and replaces the NPACT Impact Awards held last year.
