Hip-hop legend Eric B’s daughter, Erica Barrier, dies at 28 after car crash

Hip-hop legend Eric B’s (Louis Eric Barrier) daughter, Erica Supreme Barrier, has died after a car crash at the age of 28.

According to a post by the Instagram account @therealsister2sister2.0, Erica Barrier was seriously injured in a car crash in Connecticut on Sunday. The music legend’s daughter passed away from her injuries on Monday evening.

Eric B’s daughter was involved in a crash in Connecticut

According to the Instagram post, Eric B’s longtime publicist Alvina Alston confirmed that Erica Supreme Barrier was involved in a horrific car crash in Hartford, Connecticut.

She was seriously injured after an 18-wheeler ran over her vehicle at about 1 a.m. local time. The young woman was rushed to Hartford Hospital in “extreme critical condition” on March 15 after suffering multiple life-threatening injuries, including severe neck and spine fractures.

“Twenty Eight year old, Erica Supreme Barrier, the daughter of music legend Eric Barrier ( Eric B) is in extreme critical condition this morning after a horrific car crash in Connecticut. This after an 18 wheeler rolled over her vehicle at approximately 1 am in Hartford.”

Erica died a day after the crash

The Instagram account later confirmed that Erica died from her injuries at 6:18 pm, EST, on Monday, March 16.

According to a statement by Eric B’s publicist Alvina Alston:

“She fought a valiant fight, however we TRUST GOD & HIS ultimate decision to bring her home. We want to sincerely thank everyone from around the world for the outpouring of support and love during this difficult time.”

The statement also asked fans to pray for the driver involved in the accident and that Erica’s family members “hold no ill will” in their hearts towards those involved in the accident. The statement also thanked people, including first responders and medical staff, who battled to save Erica’s life.

An 18-wheeler ran over Erica’s Mini Cooper

According to Page Six, police sources said that Erica was driving on I-91 in a Mini Cooper Countryman at around 1 a.m. on Sunday when her car stopped. The 18-wheeler truck being driven behind her car was unable to stop in time and so the huge vehicle slammed into Erica’s small car.

The driver of the truck was not injured, a police report said.

Eric B. and Rakim (William Michael Griffin Jr.) are behind a number of hits from the 1980s, such as I Ain’t No Joke, Eric B Is President, and I Know You Got Soul, all from their album Paid in Full (1987). In 2006, MTV named Paid in Full the greatest hip-hop album of all time.

The latest news about Erica’s unfortunate death comes after other notable young adults lost their lives due to car accidents.

Lorenzo Brino, the actor known for his child star role as Sam Camden in the TV family drama series 7th Heaven, died earlier in the month because of a car crash in California’s San Bernardino County at the age of 21.

Trinidadian soccer star Shahdon Winchester also died in a car crash in December. He was 27-years-old.
