On Vice News Tonight this week, HBO’s new alternative take on news investigates gun laws, Mexican borders and soda taxes.

The recently launched presents a different take on nightly news bulletins with no anchor and no talking heads — just investigations and profiles which aim to delve into stories in depth.

The Mexican border segment will be particularly timely with the Presidential election just weeks away following Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Mexicans and building a wall between the country and the US.

The gun law section will look at families affected by gun violence calling for changes to legislation.

And Soda taxes are currently in the news with four cities — San Francisco, Oakland, Boulder, and Albany — about to vote on soda taxes, on November 8.

It comes after Philadelphia mayer Jim Kenny managed to push one through in his city earlier this year.

Vice News Tonight airs weeknights at 7.30pm ET on HBO.
