Update on Pierce Brosnan as Bond

Just a snippet from Reuters. Today MGM was keeping tight lipped about the future star of their James Bond franchise.

MGM Vice Chairman Chris McGurk told reporters and financial analysts the company and EON are still developing the 21st Bond film in the 42 year-old series. A script was complete, a director was being hired and then they would see about Bond.

'At that point, we're going to address the casting issues. It's the same process we went through with 'Die Another Day,'' which was the most recent Bond movie, McGurk said.

'We're deep in development, and right now, we're still targeting November 2005' as the release date, he added.

Insiders speculate Pierce Brosnan may have made the comment regards no longer playing the role, to Entertainment Weekly, to give him more leverage in negotiations.

Pierce Brosnan has told Entertainment Weekly he will not play James Bond again. He says that it is beehind him and he will not play Bond for a fifth time. It remains to be seen if this holds up. Sean Connery also retired only to be lured back for, Never Say Never Again.

If it is final then ears will be pricking up on all sort of actors who might fancy taking over the popular role. The new movie is due out at the end of next year.
