This season of This Is Us has been all about the fate of Nicky Pearson, a man believed to be dead. However, it has since been revealed that Nicky is actually alive — with actor Griffin Dunne playing the older Nicky.
Michael Angarano, who plays the younger version, shared the picture above on his Twitter account, revealing them side by side. And the glasses certainly make them look like the same person decades apart.
Dunne shared his excitement to play the role on This Is Us’ official Instagram.
Griffin Dunne was born in New York City in 1955, but he grew up in Los Angeles. His father, Dominick Dunne, worked as a producer, writer, and actor, with Dunne following in his father’s footsteps.
He’s the director of 1998 Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman movie Practical Magic, as well as 2005’s Fierce People, and he also directed a few episodes of The Good Wife from 2011 through 2014.
Dunne is also known for his acting roles, including in After Hours, An American Werewolf in London, Movie 43, Dallas Buyers Club, and the TV series, House of Lies. He is the co-founder of the production company, Double Play Productions, which he started with producer Amy Robinson.
Throughout his career, he’s also made plenty of cameos, including on The League, Damagers, Trust Me, Blonde, Fraiser, Manhattan, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, I Love Dick, and now, This Is US.
He was previously briefly married to Kate Forte, and spent six years married to Carey Lowell, with whom he has one child. He’s currently married to Anna Bingemann.
An interesting fact is that Dunne was close with Carrie Fisher, as they had been childhood friends.
