Celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is one of National Geographic’s biggest stars. Coincidentally, he is ALL about stars and the great beyond, as his podcast was morphed into a riveting series for the network in 2015.

StarTalk is Tyson’s heady compound mixture of science and pop culture. Tyson’s talk show takes place in front of a studio audience where he both interviews guests and then continues to discuss topics with the help of a co-host.

It was just announced that you can buy tickets right now for the live event, StarTalk: Live from the Beacon Theatre to tape live in New York City on Nov. 14, 2018.

Tyson mixes up his four-time Emmy-nominated late-night talk show panels with scientists, celebrities and comedians.

Who is participating?

Joining Neil deGrasse Tyson in New York are Academy Award-Winning Filmmaker James Cameron, plus actress Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Kevin Hand (NASA Jet Propulsion Labs), Julie Huber (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) and Comic Co-Host Eugene Mirman (Bob’s Burgers).

The special live program sees science and comedy collide for an hour-long episode and will focus on the search for life on alien water worlds, a subject Cameron is duly fascinated with creatively as well as in an exploratory way, which will be further explored through the POV of pop culture and comedy.

What will happen at the event?

StarTalk with Neil deGrasse Tyson: Live From the Beacon Theatre is set to discuss the current events from the frontiers of science and space exploration just like Tyson’s podcast and radio show.

NASA Advisory Council member and Academy Award-winning director James Cameron will be interviewed by Neil deGrasse Tyson in front of the live audience to discuss his famous ocean explorations and the prospect of discovering life in bodies of water found on other planets and moons.

Kemper is added to the mix, with her “scientific curiosity and comedic perspective” to add throughout the evening, while experts Hand and Huber dish on new discoveries and technologies that could unravel many secrets, touching on the idea that we are not alone in the universe.
