Were you your parent or grandparent’s favorite? Chances are each of us knows in our hearts who was the favorite growing up even if it went unspoken. But is it ok to say such a sentiment out loud, and how loud is too loud?

At the family Thanksgiving gathering, Victor (Eric Braeden) told Summer (Hunter King) that she was his favorite granddaughter then added not to tell anyone.

No one else heard this exchange, which was not the case for actress Jaime Pressly who recently informed the world on Instagram who her favorite kid is.

The star of the CBS show Mom has three boys, and she captioned a picture of her and her oldest son with, “Best time ever hangin with my favorite son, Dezi. That’s right I said it. I have a favorite son although I luv all 3 of my boys with everything I have in me. Dez and I have a special bond that no one else will ever match because we’ve grown up together.”

The reaction was swift, with some defending the gorgeous mom and others quick to scold, saying that it’s never ok to tell kids who is and who isn’t the favorite.

She later spoke up about the matter on The Talk saying, “I was just being honest.”

I’m sure she was. The question is, is it right or wrong to let your kids know who the favorite is?

Victor was surely being honest when he told Summer that she is his favorite granddaughter, but his handling of the situation by cautioning her not to tell anyone was way different than Pressly’s broadcast to the world.

Which adult do you think handled this situation better? Were you the favorite or not, either way, we’d love to hear your thoughts on what many consider to be a controversial matter!

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
