Bristol Palin joining Teen Mom OG has gotten plenty of attention since the announcement last week. The addition seemingly came out of nowhere, shocking fans who had heard at least two other girls were possibilities replace Farrah Abraham and now, possibly other stars as well.
The original girls have been around for several seasons and have earned their way to make the salaries they have today. Amber Portwood, Catelynn Lowell, and Maci Bookout all pull in around $250,000 for each Teen Mom OG season.
It looks like adding Bristol Palin was a huge deal for MTV, so they started her off right with the other girls who are also filming the show. According to Us Weekly, Teen Mom OG offered Palin $250,000 with bonuses and options to sign on for a second and third season.
Hiring Bristol Palin on with such a hefty amount of money is a bit surprising. Briana DeJesus joined Teen Mom 2 and she wasn’t offered the same as the other girls made. She came on with a significantly less salary, something that has been talked about quite frequently.
Cheyenne Floyd was supposed to be the Farrah Abraham replacement. At this point, it is unclear if she will also be on the show or if Bristol Palin replaced her as well.
She wasn’t a teen mom, something that fans were upset about. Floyd would have likely made good television, but she wasn’t someone who could relate to these girls on that kind of level.
Joining Teen Mom OG will be interesting for Bristol Palin. She isn’t new to the world of television as she had her own show for one season and competed on Dancing With the Stars as well. Palin is ready to share her struggles and some fans are ready to watch it all unfold.
Teen Mom OG airs Monday nights at 9/8c on MTV.
