Orange Is the New Black is gearing up for its final season after Netflix announced that the long-running series will be coming to an end. Season 7 of Orange Is the New Black is coming in 2019 and as with previous seasons, will have 13 episodes.
The series, along with House of Cards, garnered Netflix original content critical acclaim with 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and wins in the Outstanding Comedy Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series categories.
When will Netflix release OITNB Season 7?
Orange Is the New Black was renewed up to its seventh season in 2016. Therefore, Season 7 will likely get a June or July release date as with all six previous seasons. Netflix has yet to release a teaser trailer, which will arrive about seven to eight weeks before the expected premiere date.
Which cast members are coming back?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Natasha Lyonne confirmed that she is returning in Season 7 and is directing an episode. She revealed that Taystee, played by Danielle Brooks, will be returning and described the episode as heart-breaking.
Most of the ensemble cast from Season 6 will likely return.
What to expect in the final season of OITNB
Season 7 of OITNB will pick off where the last season ended following Piper Chapman’s post-prison life and Taystee dealing with the fallout of her trial. Danielle Brooks teased the final season and it appears to be an emotional sendoff.
