Matt Baier is the latest Teen Mom star to feature in an MTV “Being…” special, with the network airing Being Matt tonight a week before the start of the new season.
The episode comes to air just as Amber Portwood’s fiance is reportedly embroiled in a legal wrangle with MTV over leaked excerpts of his new book You Have No F**king Idea: The Naked Truth About My Life.
Matt and Amber are set to tie the knot later this year.
The Being Matt special sees him come face-to-face with the results of his past addiction battles, after his two youngest kids meet their older half-brother, Christopher Baier, for the first time.
Christopher is said to have moved in with Matt and Amber to get help with his own drug addiction late last year.
A former high-school All American in track and field, Matt used to be a radio DJ — working on the airwaves in Montana and Vermont for 15 years.
But he more recently turned his hand to writing, with his new book set to be released in May.
It’s not the first time he’s written a book, after penning self-published novel Guys Don’t Rat on Guys — about childhood sexual assault.
But it’s his new book You Have No F**king Idea that’s ended up making headlines recently after lawyers at MTV reportedly ran the rule over leaked excerpts.
According to Page Six, after seeing the leaked passages Viacom attorneys demanded some 15,000 words — around a fifth — of the book be deleted.
Most of the content in question is alleged to have been about MTV itself and Portwood’s co-star and Nemesis Farrah Abraham.
In the excerpts, Baier allegedly claims he and Portwood were told to “do their research” over Abraham’s boyfriend Simon Saran, with Matt saying he then discovered Simon had “got into a lot of trouble for assaulting his ex-girlfriend”.
He also reportedly claims that Farrah’s family tried to control stories about themselves in the media using “threats and intimidation”, and that security suddenly disappeared during a now famous confrontation between Portwood and Farrah at the Teen Mom OG reunion.
Referring to the reunion, an excerpt reportedly says: “Not to get into any conspiracy theories, but it was almost as if they wanted there to be an altercation.”
MTV’s Being Matt special airs tonight at 10/9c after a Teen Mom OG Catch Up Special at 9/8c.
