Former House Speaker John Boehner talks candidly about Donald Trump on HBO’s new weeknight show VICE News Tonight.
A clip from the show, which premiered last night, sees Boehner tell interviewer Shane Smith: “Donald wasn’t my first choice, wasn’t my second choice. But he’s the nominee!”
Other stories on VICE News Tonight this week include journalist Antonia Hylton looking in-depth at the strike at Holman Prison in Alabama, which aired last night, as well as an investigation into the hard-line drug war in the Philippines which has seen president Rodrigo Duterte order the deaths of thousands of drug dealers.
VICE News’s culture correspondent also delves into the dark depths of deadly new drug fentanyl, with one expert telling him: “Two milligrams of PAR fentanyl can kill 100 people.”
Other subjects include an interview with sexual assault activist Amanda Nguyen and a look at refugees in Vermont.
VICE News tonight aims to give an alternative take on the news, with no anchor and gritty in-depth investigations and profiles rather than superficial glossy news stories.
