The high-profile docu-series Surviving R. Kelly details both past and present allegations of sexual misconduct that have surrounded the legendary RnB singer’s career since the early ’90s.

The documentary premiered on Lifetime to record ratings and has left Netflix subscribers wondering whether the streaming giant has licensed the series.

Is the Surviving R. Kelly documentary available on Netflix?

Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers, the R. Kelly documentary is not currently on the streaming platform. The six-part series, which accuses the I Wish singer of running a sex cult is available on the Lifetime website and app for viewers to watch online.

You will need to be a subscriber to the following platforms to watch the Lifetime series online: DirecTV NOW, fuboTV, Hulu Philo or Sling TV.

What crimes is R. Kelly accused of committing?

In the documentary, R. Kelly’s alleged illegal marriage to singer Aaliyah in 1994 is addressed. Kelly’s tour manager, Demetrius Smith, admitted to forging documents claiming that the late singer was 18 years of age at the time of the marriage.

Robert Kelly was also alleged to have engaged in sexual acts with a minor but was acquitted on all charges including those involving a sex tape.

R. Kelly has recently been accused of running an abusive sex cult with girls ranging between 17 to 19 years of age. The allegations in the documentary claim that his alleged victims are starved and have no free will.

However, one of the alleged victims, Joycelyn Savage, has repeatedly denied that she is being held against her will and was seen shopping in Beverly Hills in 2018 with another alleged victim, Azriel Clary, without R. Kelly.

The parents of the alleged captives claim that they have been brainwashed by R. Kelly.

The singer responded in 2018 with a song titled I Admit where he accuses the parents of the alleged captives of pushing them on to him due to his fame.

R. Kelly is one of the best-selling musicians of all time with hits including I Believe I Can Fly, Gotham City, Ignition (Remix), If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time.

His record sales have surged since the documentary aired with the publicity introducing the self-dubbed “Pied Piper” to a new audience and reminding other fans of his classic songs.

There has been an effort to ‘mute’ R. Kelly with several protest at his concerts. His songs were also removed from Spotify playlists.

Surviving R. Kelly is not currently available on Netflix in any country. The streaming company may negotiate a licensing deal with Lifetime in the future; however, it is unlikely that it will happen anytime soon.
