FBI actress Sela Ward played the character of Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier during the first season of the CBS show. She was on-screen for nearly every episode of the show, but the Season 1 finale may shake things up a bit.
During the FBI season finale, Maggie (Missy Peregrym) was working a case that involved the murder of her husband. Mosier made several decisions about Maggie and the case that she would later call emotional rather than tactical.
At the end of the episode, Mosier spoke with Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine (Jeremy Sisto), letting him know that she had submitted her papers for retirement. It was quite the cliffhanger for CBS viewers.

Is Sela Ward leaving FBI?
Normally it is the case that an actor or actress is placed in a difficult spot due to what their character is doing on the show. On shows like NCIS: New Orleans, actor Scott Bakula frequently finds his character of Dwayne Pride in peril, but he always survives.
Following the revelation that Special Agent in Charge Dana Mosier made during FBI Season 1, episode 23, actress Sela Ward actually went on social media to address the situation. That post can be seen below.

FBI cast shakeup
Sela Ward joined the show when actress Connie Nielsen decided not to do it. As a later addition to the FBI cast, it may always have been Ward’s choice to walk away after the first season.
If definitely looked like the writers provided the character with a way to come back in the Season 2 premiere, but now it looks like Ward is ready to move on to new projects. Since her character is still alive, though, a future return is not out of the question.
CBS has already ordered FBI Season 2, putting to end some of the rumors that it could get canceled. New episodes of the show will air on the network in the fall, with a new character in charge of the New York field office.
FBI Season 1 aired at 9/8c on Tuesday nights for CBS.
