While the good news announced on January 15 was that Grace and Frankie will return to Netflix for yet another season in 2020, the streaming service has not yet announced the exact release date for Grace and Frankie Season 6.

However, based on the fact that the last two seasons — Seasons 4 and 5 — premiered in the month of January, we might guess that Season 6 will likely also premiere in January 2020.

However, Seasons 1 and 2 premiered in May while Season 3 premiered in March. So it is possible that Netflix might revert to the pattern of earlier launch dates and release Season 6 in the spring of 2020, slightly later than January.

All previous seasons of the series have so far consisted of 13 episodes, so fans can expect that Grace and Frankie Season 6 will also have 13 episodes.

Grace and Frankie Season 6 plot

The TV series follows two women, Grace and Frankie, who were forced to come together for mutual support — although they never liked each other — after their husbands, Robert and Sol, both successful divorce lawyers in San Diego, left them for a gay relationship with each other.

The shared misfortune brings the two women together. They forge a bond as they face the challenges of rebuilding their live post-divorce.

After a series of hair-raising adventures in Season 4, including driving a mobile scooter under the influence and running into a police car, their adult children decided it was time for them to join a retirement community.

In the Season 4 finale, the two were shocked to discover that their children had sold their beach house and wanted them to move to an assisted-living facility.

Kauffman told IndieWire that Grace and Frankie Season 5 will pick up where Season 4 left off. We may also assume that Grace and Frankie Season 6 will pick up wherever Season 5 leaves off.

The showrunners have not given any hints about what to expect of Grace and Frankie Season 6. But fans will get a better idea of where Season 6 is headed after seeing Season 5 which launches on Netflix on January 18.
