Extreme Weight Loss: Obese Alex weighed 459-lbs aged just 23

Alex Respess used to play regularly baseball as his kid — but by the time he was 23 things were a very different story.

After piling on the pounds his weight soared to a horrifying 459-lbs, thanks to a diet of his favorite food — burgers with bacon and cheese stuffed inside the patty.

In tonight’s Extreme Weight Loss on TLC the show looks into Alex’s incredible story as he went from looking like this…

His motivation? Five years before the show was filmed Alex’s mother tragically died of cancer. But before she passed away, he made her a promise — that he would lose weight.

With Chris’s help we see just how he managed to stay true to his words.

Tonight’s episode of Extreme Weight Loss first aired back in 2011. From his peak Alex managed to lose 216lbs and also underwent surgery to remove excess skin.

And since the show first aired a lot has happened in Alex’s life. Not only has he managed to keep the weight off, but last November he also got married to his beloved wife Courtney Crozier in Merrillville, Indiana.

He has also remained great friends with celebrity personal trainer Powell, who was even a groomsman at his wedding.
