Clues to legendary treasure near the Grand Canyon on new season of What on Earth?

What on Earth? is back for a new season and this first episode asks whether people have been searching for lost treasure near the Grand Canyon.

Back in February this year, the WorldView 2 satellite picked up images of pockmarks all over that area of Arizona. They were regularly space and looked to be man-made rather than natural.

It turns out that back in the days when the West was still pretty wild, infamous robber Roy Gardner had a habit of burying his loot. He is thought to have stolen over $350,000 at the time, meaning it would now be worth over $4 million!

Treasure hunters do have an idea where he might have placed his stashes as he was caught after his last robbery, in the process of burying it.

So are these strange marks eager treasure hunters or something else?
