Netflix’s The Crown is one of the most compelling biography series about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. While Netflix doesn’t share rating data, the costly series has been renewed for a third and fourth season.

With an early renewal, fans can expect a November or December release date in 2019. Netflix is yet to give an official air date. However, the production schedule indicates that the third season will be released in late 2019.

Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning British monarch, it comes as no surprise that Season 3 of The Crown will introduce a new age-appropriate cast. Due to the timeline of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, Claire Foy will not return as Queen Elizabeth II. The same goes for Matt Smith as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.

Olivia Colman will portray Queen Elizabeth II for Season 3 & 4 of The Crown. Helena Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret and Tobias Menzies has been cast as Prince Phillip.

Josh O’Connor is set to play Prince Charles as a young man while Marion Bailey replaces Victoria Hamilton as the Queen Mother.

In The Crown Season 3, Queen’s time period will be in the late 1960s and early 1970s. There are some conflicting reports with other sources suggest that the third season begins in the 1970’s. The plot will Princess Margaret’s divorce and Prince Charles experiences in the navy and when he first met Camilla, according to Elite Daily.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip will be in their fifties and the third and fourth season will reportedly cover a ten-year period.

Ten episodes of The Crown Season 3 is coming in 2019. The first and second season is available for streaming only on Netflix.
