Tonight, Dr. Sandra Lee faces the largest cyst she has ever dealt with in her professional career on TLC’s breakaway hit Dr. Pimple Popper.
On Dr. Pimple Popper, we get a closeup of Ronen’s mysterious lump above his knee which is so painful that he grimaces while getting dressed.
He has had this lump since he was 12 and he is in his forties now, but he is worried as the lump has grown aggressively in the last few years. Without a doubt, it is one of the largest cysts Dr. Lee has ever seen in her career as a doctor.
You might wonder why this series that is essentially a televised fly on the wall POV of blackhead extraction and cyst and abscess drainage is so popular? If you ask Dr. Lee, it is that people have a primal need to see unnatural afflictions and unsightly things restored to a normal state.
In the video clip below, we see how hard it is for him to dress daily. He also suffers at work as a flight attendant and describes how it is hit and pushed on as he tries to manage the pain. “If I don’t get rid of this, the pain is not gonna go away,” he says. He travels to see Dr. Lee and hopes she can do something for him, as other doctors have not been able to.
Often times people are so ashamed that they hide their cysts or they become defeated and frustrated that their normal medical insurance will not cover the removal. Or that the cyst extractions are classified as surgery with high rates and huge co-pays many cannot afford, if you are even lucky enough to have medical insurance that covers anything dermatological.
Her medical practice and her “Dr. Pimple Popper” YouTube channel grew so large from people watching the videos that she posted, TLC became interested and tested the waters of viewers and their interest too.
Dr. Lee’s first televised special last year was so popular that they bestowed a series for the medic who does a hefty bit of pro bono work alleviating people of their unsightly growths, along with the popular and lucrative fillers and botox that are part of her cosmetic surgery practice too.
