Moonshiners fans have been itching for Season 6 to start on Discovery — and now it’s here. For those who haven’t seen the before, that means an introduction to Tim Smith, one of the two longest-serving members of the Moonshiners cast.
But who is the dungaree-wearing moonshiner? For years, Tim was an illegal producer of the potent stuff, an outlaw making ‘shine behind the backs of the authorities.
But in 2013 he decided to go legit and turned his hand to creating and growing a legal brand, Tim Smith’s Climax Moonshine — which is named after the Virginia town where he lives and which features on the show.
Tim is married to wife Shelby Smith, and they have a son JT as well as their trusty dog Camo, who has been by Tim’s side ever since his backwoods days evading the law.
She’s a Catahoula Leopard dog features in the picture on bottles of Climax Moonshine.
As well as the normal Moonshine, Tim also produces a version called FIRE No. 32 which has a spiciness to it thanks to a cinnamon blend, and a woodfired whisky.
As well as featuring on Discovery’s Moonshiners, Tim also does personal appearances like bottle signings and meet and greets with fans.
In Season 6 he starts training his son to help run their ever-growing business.
