Big Brother 20 spoilers: High-tech ‘BB App Store’ twist is a little bit like The Hunger Games

How will the Big Brother 20 high-tech twist affect the house guests?

Big Brother has more than one similarity to the premise behind The Hunger Games books and films.

In both competitions, contestants compete to be the last one standing. The difference between the reality show and the ‘death match’ in the dystopian fantasy is that on Big Brother everyone gets to live.

A new twist added for Big Brother 20 is even more reminiscent of The Hunger Games and here’s why. Along with the new high-tech look of the BB20 house, it looks like at least one of the new twists will use technology to track the popularity of contestants, who have no idea what those who are watching think of them.

Big Brother 20 contestants will be able to benefit from the high-tech twist when their fans get them trending on social media. Houseguests can win perks that will give them an advantage in the competition all based on how badly their fanbase wants to see them win. Does this sound familiar at all? Hunger Games fans will know it does.

The new Big Brother 20 twist is called the “BB App Store.” The way it works as described by Big Brother is that “America will get a chance to get the Houseguests trending, resulting in power apps or punishments that could crash their game”.

Clearly, this is just the first of the Big Brother 20 twists. We expect many more surprises this season, considering that the CBS hit competition series is celebrating a landmark year with 20 seasons under their belt.

How will the BB App Store change the course of the game? It’s still not certain but what is for sure is that this Big Brother 20 twist will all be based on how popular or how hated the BB20 houseguest is.

Who do you think will benefit the most and the least from the BB App Store twist on Big Brother 20? Will JC Monduix get a boost from the fans? Or is this going to be the extra help that Kaycee Clark needs?

Big Brother 20 begins on Wednesday, June 27  at 8 p.m. EST with a two-part premiere that will continue on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST.
