Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have reportedly called off their four-month long engagement. The two had only just started dating back in the late spring when they started to take things to the next level.

Their whirlwind romance came after Ariana split with Mac Miller back in May and Pete split with girlfriend Cazzie David.

Pete and Ariana were spotted together at a Saturday Night Live afterparty. It’s uncertain when the two got together exactly, but by May 13 they were definitely hanging out. The two later confirmed that they were indeed dating even though they had both just ended other relationships.

Less than a month after they confirmed their relationship, Pete popped the question. Hollywood Life reports that they were telling everyone that they were engaged at Robert Pattison’s birthday party in Los Angeles, which took place on Saturday, June 9.

They were reportedly convinced they were meant to be, as they got a pet pig together and matching tattoos. One can only assume they got engaged to celebrate their love for one another.

While everything appeared to be doing well, Ariana’s world was rocked on September 7 when the story broke about Mac Miller dying from an overdose.

“Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends, and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time,” read a statement released by his family.

Last month Ariana Grande posted a poignant message on Twitter asking if she could just have one day where she’d be okay. The tweet came about three weeks after Mac Miller’s sudden death.

Fans had suspected the relationship was in trouble earlier this month after Pete got his tattoo of Ariana Grande’s famous Dangerous Woman bunny ears covered up, changing it to a heart.

And while some fans believe that it was Mac Miller’s death that triggered the romance to fizzle out, a source close to the couple has revealed that everything simply happened too soon.

“It happened this weekend,” a source revealed to Us Weekly yesterday. “They realized it happened too quick and too early. The wedding is off, but they’re working things out. They’re not officially done yet.”

Only time will tell whether it was the speedy romance that killed the relationship or if Mac Miller’s overdose was the cause of the split. However, the internet was quick to react to the news of the split, with many mentioning the fact Ariana had a track named after Pete on her latest album, Sweetener.

Many also wondered about those matching tattoos.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have yet to publicly talk about their breakup.
