One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has become an ambassador for a charity that honors brave children in the area where he was born.
The 21-year-old has lent his backing to the Yorkshire Children Of Courage Awards, which hosts an awards gala every year to pay tribute to kids who overcome difficulties in their lives.
Louis is from Doncaster, which lies in the English county of South Yorkshire, and he said the local area and children were “two things close to my heart”.
The star said: “It was a very easy yes when I was kindly asked to be an ambassador for the Yorkshire Children of Courage Awards.
What these children achieve really is extraordinary, and I look forward to celebrating their bravery, generosity, selflessness and courage.”
Louis has a history of philanthropy, on top of the things done by One Direction. Most of the charities he has worked with involve helping children, including Believe In Magic, which provides help for terminally ill kids, and the BlueBell Wood Children’s Hospice.
In the past week, Louis has been getting into backing the England soccer team in the Euro 2016 championships, posting several pics on his Instagram of him in a football shirt – and tweeting about games he’s watching on Twitter.
