Jeff Bezos announced in a joint statement yesterday that he and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos were divorcing after a trial separation.

Since he has one of the biggest personal net worths in the world, currently around $137 billion, people are wondering whether MacKenzie will walk away from the marriage as a billionaire or with nothing.

According to TMZ, Jeff and MacKenzie had no prenup in place prior to them getting a divorce. The website claims that they supposedly could split his fortune down the middle.

It’s important to note that they got married back in 1993, years before he started Amazon and became uber rich, so MacKenzie has been along for the ride over the past 25 years.

Other than his billionaire net worth and the money in his bank account, the couple also reportedly has shared assets, with TMZ reporting that they own 400,000 acres of property.

In their joint statement, Jeff and MacKenzie said that they were divorcing amicably and they will continue to be friends and work together on their professional projects. MacKenzie is an author, but she appears to have a foot in some of Jeff’s charitable projects as well.

TMZ predicts that the separation of assets during the divorce will be complicated despite them being amicable during this time. Jeff opened up about their divorce decision in a statement he shared on Twitter yesterday.

According to CNBC, Jeff Bezos has plenty of assets, which includes real estate. His lake house in Medina, Washington, was reportedly worth $25 million in 2017. He also has property in Washington, D.C., Beverly Hills, and Manhattan. All of his properties are said to be above $10 million in value.

He’s also a player in the space race, trying to get tourism into space. He founded a company called Blue Origin, where he wants to try and send people into orbit.

The Bezos family also reportedly has a private jet, and the billionaire has invested in some major companies in the past, including Basecamp, Juno Therapeutics, Workday and Twitter. He’s also invested in Airbnb, Uber, and Google, and owns The Washington Post.
