South Florida rapper Kodak Black received his sentence as expected on Wednesday.

While the prosecution was going for a heavy sentence against the rapper, Kodak Black dodged that.  Kodak Black already had one instance while awaiting sentencing. Here’s the latest on how many years and months he’ll spend in prison.

What was Kodak Black’s sentence?

Per the Miami Herald, Kodak Black was facing a maximum of 10 years for his crime for a federal weapons charge. As mentioned, the maximum sentence could have taken away Kodak Black’s freedom for a decade. In addition, there may have been a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised released.

The prosecution wanted a sentence as long as 57 months but the judge was lenient. Instead, Kodak Black will serve 46 months. That totals almost four years spent behind bars for the 22-year-old rapper. If he serves the full 46 months, it’s basically three years and 10 months in prison.

The rapper’s arrest originally occurred just before a scheduled performance at the Rolling Loud Miami event this past May. Kodak Black pled guilty to the charges stemming from that arrest.

The firearm charges were considered “technical charges.” They arrived after Kodak lied twice to a gun dealer at a Hialeah weapons store, back on Jan. 25 and then March 1. He was able to buy three weapons on that first date, but the second time around, he was denied a transaction for two firearms.

The rapper reportedly lied on questions on the background form he had to fill out during the gun transactions. The lie is due to trying to buy guns while under indictment in South Carolina for first-degree sexual assault, per Complex. However, the rapper didn’t disclose that he was facing indictment for a crime of that nature on the forms.

In addition to that, Kodak Black assaulted a guard while he was awaiting the news of his sentence. Prosecutors revealed that news during his court hearing.

The hip-hop star, or someone else, quickly took to Instagram after the news of his sentence. Kodak tells his 8.4 million followers on the social media platform, “Hold It Down While I’m On Lock. Calling Shots From The Box. #Literally”

That brought almost 13,000 comments with it and over 250,000 Likes, as of this report. Among those giving the post a Like was Chicago Bears halfback Tarik Cohen. Others commented to give support for the rapper as he prepares to spend up to 46 months behind bars.

One commenter said, “Keep your head up #FreeKodak.”

Another commented, “Get your mind right mane.”

A majority of the other comments are saying “Free the goat” or “Free the yak” as fans are pleading for one of their favorite rapper’s early release. Time will tell if that’s the case for Kodak Black.
