The new trailer for Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe movie The Nice Guys  is out – and it’s one of the funniest you’ll see all year.

The comedy, out May 20, sees Gosling play a private detective with his enforcer buddy Crowe as they try to solve a crime that turns out more complex than they could possibly begin to imagine.

Also starring Kim Basinger and model Margaret Qualley, it’s set in the Los Angeles of 1977 – as the trailer puts it “a time of disco, sex, and scandal”.

In the trailer we are see Gosling’s Holland March team up with Crowe’s Jackson Healy as all sorts of calamities unfold.

At one point March’s daughter Holly, played by Angourie Rice, asks Healy: “You beat people up and charge money? How much would you charge to beat up my friend Janet?”

When Healy looks interested at the offer of $20, March quickly cuts in: “That’s good, this conversation is over.”

The movie, from Iron Man 3 director Shane Black, is rated R and being distributed by Warner Bros.
