The new trailer for this summer’s Kubo and the Two Strings has just been released – and it gives a glimpse of what is set to be one of this year’s most beautiful and enchanting films.

Kubo and The Two strings is set to be released on August 19 and is a stop-motion film made in 3D with a stellar voice cast list including Ralph Fiennes, Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Rooney Mara, George Takei and Art Parkinson.

The new trailer is nearly 3 minutes long and gives a much more immersive look at what the film is going to entail than the first trailer. The story is set in the Japan of old where Kubo, a young boy, goes on one of the most epic adventures of all time.

He has been living a quiet life looking after his mother in his quaint town next to the sea. But by accident he manages to summon a spirit which forces him to go on the run as he tries to get to the bottom of what happened to his father, who was the planet’s greatest ever samurai warrior.

With the help of his magical ‘shamisen’ instrument he has to take on everyone from monsters to gods and the Moon King – played by Fiennes – as he tries to complete his quest.

Kubo and the Two Strings, from LAIKA and Focus Features, is directed by animator and former rapper Travis Knight.
