Sean Penn has lent his voice to a character in the new Angry Birds move called Terence – a huge red bird who, well, really doesn’t say much at all.

The double-Academy Award winner’s character is introduced in a new clip which shows him taking part in an anger management class where main character Red, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, tries to get to know him.

But instead of the chatty response he’s looking for, Red is met with a low-rumbling growl.

It’s not yet known exactly what he does in the movie, but as Sean Penn was hired to do the voiceover it seems likely that he will actually speak at some point.

The news of Penn’s involvement, revealed by Entertainment Tonight, comes six weeks ahead of the highly-anticipated movie’s release on May 20.

The 3D comedy is based on the super-popular game series, which became a global phenomenon after its release in 2009.

Other stars voicing characters include Game of Thrones’ Tyrion Lannister, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad – who voiced Olaf in Frozen — as Chuck, and Eastbound & Down star Danny McBride as Bomb.
