5 life lessons from Star Wars

Star Wars has captured our imaginations for generations. But what can it teach us?

Whether you consider yourself die-hard Star Wars fan, or you are someone who has never watched the series, there are countless life lessons to be learned from Star Wars.

With the franchise back on our radar with new releases and spin-offs, it is a great time to take a step back and reflect on a few of the life lessons this series has taught viewers so far.

1 Look within yourself for strength

Use of the force was interwoven throughout the entire series and encourages viewers to look beyond their resources and upbringing.

The force was never limited by any characters social status, for example, everything young Anakin Skywalker needed was within himself – even as a slave.

Anakin had just as much access to the force as a young child as he later did when he became the powerful, menacing Darth Vader.

2 Size doesn’t matter

Yoda

Yoda is arguably the most powerful Jedi within the series. He is small in stature and upon first impressions seems as though he should be feeble or weak.

Yoda teaches us that appearances can be deceiving and even a small hero can make a big difference.

3 It takes a village

They may have had their differences, but this motley crew were definitely stronger as a team

While there certainly are a few heroes that stand out, no hero was ever solely charged with saving the galaxy.

It took an unlikely team of allies to tip the balance of the galaxy back towards the light.

To get far in life, you need a good support system and at least a few friends that you can always trust to have your back.

4 You get what you deserve

What do Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt, Sebulba and every other bad guy have in common? They all got what was coming to them.

It never pays to be greedy or two faced, because it will always catch up with you in the worst way possible.

5 Commit to your decisions

It’s best to make a clear choice and then see it though. Isn’t that right, Chewie?

As stated by Yoda “Do, or do not. There is no try.” Sometimes in life we try to outrun the difficult decisions and hope to escape our fate.

But Star Wars teaches us that making no decision can be just as dangerous as making the wrong decision.

When you make a clear choice and don’t falter, your plans are more likely to succeed.
