Patrick Mahomes, the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, arrived at Arrowhead Stadium yesterday before the game against the Cincinnati Bengals wearing a baseball jersey.
But it wasn’t any baseball jersey — it was his dad’s. Mahomes’ father, also named Patrick Mahomes — more commonly known as simply Pat — played 11 seasons in major league baseball, for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He was a pitcher, also playing two seasons in Nippon in 1997 and 1998, the biggest league in Japan. In 2009, he played for the Grand Prairie AirHogs, which is a team in the independent American Association.

It’s been reported that Pat received $2.65 million in earnings throughout his 11 seasons. Pat left the major league in 2003, playing his last game on August 26 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even though he wanted his son Patrick to follow in his footsteps, the younger Mahomes chose to follow his passion for football.
While Patrick Mahomes’ father is a famous baseball player, it seems that his mother is more private.
His mom, Randi Martin is no longer married to Pat. The two divorced when Patrick was only a child and she would later have two additional children.
On Instagram, Patrick Mahomes often makes references to how much he loves his mother and his siblings. He has a younger brother Jackson and sister, Mia.
Patrick Mahomes has been off the market since 2012, dating soccer player and fellow Texas native Brittany Matthews. The two met while studying at university. She’s 23 years old and has an impressive following on Instagram, where she often shares her workout tips.
Even though Patrick Mahomes was first drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs last year, he’s already managed to get an incredible contract with the team.
Mahomes’ net worth is reportedly about $11.7million, partially due to his NFL contract. He’s signed a $16.4million contract, getting a $10million bonus in July of last year.
Interestingly, Patrick Mahomes could have made more money but reportedly decided to turn down all sponsorship deals until he’d proved himself to his fellow team members.
His agent Leigh Steinberg has revealed that Mahomes wanted to focus on the team first and then endorsement deals later.
“We’re keeping it low key and, once the season is successfully over, then we’ll go into marketing in a lot of different brand categories,” she revealed earlier this season, adding, “We’re being very, very careful to allow this season to proceed without his face on every billboard. Without it creating a situation where he throws the first interception and people are saying, ‘Well, why’s he on every billboard?'”
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos on Sunday, October 28 at 1 pm EST kickoff.
