One of the most entertaining performances of this weekend’s Tony Awards was of Jake Gyllenhaal and Sean Hayes singing A Whole New World from Aladdin — and almost nobody saw it.
While the ceremony was filled with an action-packed schedule, Gyllenhaal and Hayes took to the stage for their bit of impromptu karaoke during the commercial break.
That meant all those watching at home on television didn’t get to see their performance, as the pair were egged on by host James Corden.
Thankfully, Hayes later posted a video of the singalong on his Facebook page.
Other performances on the night came from shows including Hamilton — which won the award for Best Musical — and and The Color Purple, which was honored with the gong for Best Revivial of a Musical.
Best Play went to The Humans, while Best Revival of a Play was won by Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge.
Host Corden had previously told how he had been so worried about falling over while acting as host at the event that it kept him up at night. Luckily, he didn’t!
