A tragic accident on the set of Power earlier this week shut down filming for Season 6 and took the life of longtime production assistant Pedro Jimenez.

Now a GoFundMe campaign set up to help support Pedro’s family in the wake of his death has already quadrupled its goal in just two days.

The fundraising page, featuring a photo of the Power crew member, was set up by co-worker Clarisol Salcedo, before being shared widely on Facebook. More than 300 people had already donated at the time of writing, including many Power stars, with whom he worked since the show started in 2014.

Lela Loren, Lala Anthony and Joseph Sikora are among the donors, all contributing $1,000 each to Pedro Jimenez’ GoFundMe. Power showrunner Courtney Kemp donated $5,000. Executive Producer Gary Lennon and co-executive producer Shana Stein also gave $1,000 each. The Power Props Dept. donated $500.

Pedro Jimenez was pronounced dead at a Brooklyn hospital not long after a vehicle struck him while the Power production assistant was setting up traffic cones early on Monday morning as the crew got ready to film.

News of the accident spread quickly as his friends and family, as well as his Power family, mourned his shocking death. After learning of his untimely passing, many Power stars took to social media to pay their condolences.

On the morning of December 12, just two days after Jimenez’s death, organizer Clarisol Salcedo updated the GoFundMe page to share a message from his son Pedrito which said, “This enlightened my day today, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Pedro’s wake was scheduled for Thursday, December 13, at the R G Ortiz Funeral Home in New York City. He will be buried in the Dominican Republic.

Filming for Season 6 of Power was halted after Pedro Jimenez’ death and there has been no announcement about when it will begin again. The Starz series was getting ready to shut down for the holiday season already and is expected to resume again in early 2019.
