Maren Morris has come to the defense of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, following the release of their explosive Netflix series.

The country music star has said she’s not yet watched the documentary but believes Meghan does not deserve the uproar from the public.

The tell-all Netflix series, called Harry & Meghan, debuted on the streaming platform last Thursday, December 8.

Meghan and Harry have said that they hope the documentary will put across “their side” of the public rift that appears to be happening between him and his family.

Following the release, Maren took to TikTok to share her thoughts and opinions on the pair’s experience as royals.

In the two-minute-long video, the 32-year-old spoke about the “profound hatred and annoyance” towards Meghan, something Maren noted seemed to come from other women.

Maren, who said she was going to watch the series on a flight, began the TikTok by saying, “I do have some questions.”

She continued, “This profound hatred and annoyance at Meghan Markle specifically—mostly coming from women, I have to say—it’s unfathomable to me. People say, ‘Oh, a woman should never take a man away from his family.’ That’s all this is. Um, have you seen this family?”

The Grammy Award winner then spoke about numerous historical royal events, including King Edward VIII and his short-lived reign.

The late Queen’s uncle voluntarily abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, who was a divorcee.

She also mentioned Queen Elizabeth ll’s sister, Princess Margaret, who could not marry the love of her life because he was divorced.

“She did not leave the family, but I kind of wish she had,” Maren added.

Maren, who also admitted to being a fan of The Crown and having a “moderate fascination” with the royals, noted how, “this all feels very pointed at one woman.”

“As it mostly always has [been] in history,” she added.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rep responds to show criticisms

Maren’s thoughts on the royal couple’s Netflix series come a day after a representative for Harry and Meghan addressed the criticisms of their show.

Following the release, the pair received criticism over their decision to create a docuseries about their life, despite quitting royal duties to apparently lead a more private and quiet life.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, a rep for the Duchess of Sussex said that the pair has “never cited privacy as the reason for stepping back.”

They went on to claim the “distorted narrative” was intended to “trap” Meghan and Harry “into silence.”

The first three episodes premiered last week, with the final trio of installments to be released next week on December 15.
