The Mandalorian Season 3 is coming back in December 2021 for the third season, but who will it be about?
This is a difficult question to answer.
During the Disney Investor’s meeting last week, the company announced there would be a Season 3 of The Mandalorian in December 2021.
However, with the Season 2 finale, that is questionable.
Spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 2 finale
That post-credit scene saw Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) headed back to Mos Eisley.
In Mos Eisley, a familiar scene played out. Since Jabba the Hutt is dead, there is a new ruler, and he looks like the same old ruler, with a slave girl and people serving him.
Unlike the last time, there are only a few people there because the new ruler is Bib Fortuna, who really wants to follow him?
Also, Boba Fett is not Luke Skywalker. While Luke was there to negotiate for Han Solo’s release in Return of the Jedi, Boba is there to take over. He kills the guards and then guns down Bib. Then Fennec releases the slave girl and allows her to escape.
Boba Fett sits on the throne, and Fennec grabs herself something to drink.
At the end of that post-credit scene, it said: “The Book of Boba Fett” coming in December 2021.
This means one of two things.
Either The Mandalorian Season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett is coming in December 2021, or the third season of The Mandalorian will be about Boba Fett and not Mando.
The Mandalorian Season 3: What will it be about?
Whether it is about Mando or Boba Fett, the third season of The Mandalorian will hit in December 2021.
Shooting should commence early in 2021, and the show will hit in time for the holiday season in 2021. However, who will be in it?
Mando’s story with Baby Yoda is over with. Luke Skywalker showed up from out of nowhere to rescue Baby Yoda and took him back to train to be a Jedi. Could this mean Baby Yoda is doomed since Kylo Ren killed all Luke’s students?
As for Mando, he has the Darksaber, even though he would’ve preferred that it went to Bo Katan. The Mandalorian Season 3 could follow Mando as the reluctant savior of the Mandalorian race.
However, with The Book of Boba Fett coming out in December 2021, the entire show might take a turn and focus on Boba next season. Remember, Mando is not “The Mandalorian.” He is just one of the Mandalorians.
It will be interesting to see if Season 3 will have a new Mandalorian or if there will be two shows, one for Boba Fett and one for Mando.
