It’s less than five weeks until decision day for the couples on Married at First Sight, and one of the couples is taking full advantage of the trust and intimacy exercises the experts gave them.
Katie and Derek’s marriage has been doing much better overall since Katie promised to quit focusing on the fact that Derek has never been in love before.
They like one another and enjoy spending time with each other. They seem to balance each other out in almost every way… except in the kitchen.
They have both admitted they aren’t great cooks, and they were not downplaying that.
Cooking 101 on MAFS
We see them in the kitchen together, attempting to make breakfast. Derek has some eggs in a pan, and some other things are cooking in a pot.
You’re not sure what it is they’re trying to make until Derek mentions the word “omelet.” Katie asks Derek if he put anything “in the pan” before dumping the eggs in, and he says no.
She chuckles a little and waits for the result.
After scooping the contents of the omelet into the pan with the eggs, Derek quickly finds out that eggs stuck to the bottom. An omelet is probably not going to happen.
They’re laughing and having fun together talking about how bad at cooking they are, and their scrambled eggs turned out okay, and the smoke alarm only came on for a few minutes.
They talk about going to a cooking class later and invite the other couples.
Later, we see them at COOKOLOGY for their class, and all the couples are there — except for Taylor and Brandon. No big surprise there.
They learn how to make Lobster and seafood risotto. YUM. All the couples are having fun cooking together and enjoy eating their awesome meal afterward.
Wine and painting date
Next, we see Derek setting up a cute wine and painting date. Katie is surprised when she gets home and appreciates Derek “stepping up his game.”
After painting for a bit, they sit down to eat some Mac-n-Cheese, and Derek asks Katie how she’s been feeling lately.
She admits that just a few days ago, she was feeling like Derek “wasn’t really in it” anymore. She feels like now that they’re officially married, living together, etc.
He doesn’t think he has to romance her or “work” for her. He admits that he got complacent, and says, “I’m going to win you over. I want you to fall in love with me.”
“Cheers to that” Katie, says, with a huge smile on her face.
Later we see them getting ready to do their exercise from the experts. It was a customized Jenga game with all kinds of questions and tasks for them to do.
This was the best game of Jenga I have ever seen.
They discuss various things that turn them on. Katie said she likes to be manhandled, and Derek says he likes nails being scratched down his back while they’re messing around.
These two seem to be on the same page about sexy time.
After a few steamy kisses and other intimate moments, Derek picks her up, throws her over his shoulder, and takes her to the bedroom.
