As the world battles through the COVID-19 pandemic caused by coronavirus, Hollywood actor Jared Leto has been self-isolating in his own particular way.

The only problem being he didn’t realize that’s what he was doing. The Suicide Squad star spent nearly two weeks in the desert as part of a silent meditation retreat.

That means he’d been living off the grid with no news or government updates. Leto was oblivious to the chaos caused by the deadly coronavirus outbreak, which spread across the planet.

Leto has emerged after 12 days into an extraordinary world and finally caught up with all that’s been happening. He took to Twitter and Instagram to express his surprise.

Jared Leto didn’t know about the virus’s spread

“Wow” began the Blade Runner 2049 actor. “12 days ago, I began a silent meditation in the desert. We were totally isolated.”

“No phone, no communication, etc.,” he continued, “we had no idea what was happening outside the facility.”

Leto, who is known for immersing himself in projects, spent six months in character as the Joker for Suicide Squad. He wrote to his followers, “walked out yesterday into a very different world. One that’s been changed forever. Mind-blowing – to say the least.”

“I’m getting messages from friends and family all around the globe and catching up on what’s going on,” he said.

He finished up with a third tweet by writing: “Hope you and yours are ok. Sending positive energy to all.”

He also advised us to “stay inside” and “stay safe.”

Leto also posted his unsettling experience to Instagram.

Other celebrities have been affected by coronavirus outbreak

Another group of people who were kept in the dark over the spread of COVID-19 was the contestants of Germany’s version of Big Brother.

The contestants were to be informed last night on live national television. The contestants are housed in a region of Germany that has been affected particularly severely.

Many household names have been affected by the pandemic and are self-isolating while being fully aware of the fact. Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were diagnosed in Australia and have isolated themselves.

Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina have also shut themselves off from the world after the star of Luther announced he had COVID-19.

Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a humorous video online with himself and a couple of donkeys. Don’t worry, the Terminator hasn’t been infected, but he is taking precautions by self-isolating.

The current outbreak of coronavirus has infected nearly 5,000 people in the United States and a further 200,000 around the world.
