No cat fighting here! Halle Berry has some words of encouragement and advice for Zoe Kravitz, who plays Catwoman in the new Batman movie.

In an interview with Pop Culture, Halle Berry said she thinks Zoe Kravitz will be amazing as Catwoman. Berry, who is currently promoting her new movie Moonfall, advises Kravitz to be “courageous” and to “bring her interpretation” to the role of Catwoman.

Halle Berry is the right person to give advice; the actress brought the DC Comics character to life in the 2004 film Catwoman. Although fans reveled at Berry’s physical fitness in Catwoman, they were seemingly less impressed by the film. The film grossed less than its $100 million budget.

But, Halle has moved on, and she wishes nothing but the best for Zoe Kravitz. Halle Berry offers the following insight into Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman: “I think she’s going to be an amazing Catwoman. And I can’t wait to see what her interpretation of that is.”

Eight years after Catwoman debuted, Anne Hathaway tried her hand as the feline superhero in the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises. Now eight years after Hathaway’s depiction of Catwoman, Big Little Lies actress Zoe Kravitz will give the role a shot.

Halle Berry as Catwoman

Halle Berry famously played Catwoman in 2004’s Catwoman, a film that was a critical and commercial failure by many accounts. The film currently has a 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.4 rating on IMDB. Catwoman was DC comics-inspired, but there were no DC characters in the film other than Berry’s character. Furthermore, her alter-ego was Patience Philips rather than the DC Comics original, Selina Kyle.

For her part in the film, Halle Berry earned a Razzie. The Razzie awards celebrate the worst acting in film, a stark contrast from the Oscar Awards. Ever the good sport, Halle Berry showed up in person to collect her award for Worst Actress. Berry even took her Oscar on stage to remind audience members she is more than just a Worst Actress award recipient.

Halle Berry has the distinction of having earned a Razzie Award and an Oscar Award.

Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman in The Batman

Zoe Kravitz will star opposite Twilight’s Robert Pattinson in The Batman. Also starring in The Batman is Paul Dano as the Riddler and Colin Farrell as Penguin.

The reignition of excitement amongst fans was evident as Kravitz and Pattinson appeared in the promotional teaser for The Batman called The Bat and The Cat.

Kravitz says that the Catwomen have been “extremely nice and supportive,” acknowledging the big shoes she is stepping into as Selina Kyle.
