The castaway who voted Sandra off Survivor on Wednesday night pulled off a huge blindside. It might have been the biggest twist so far for the Winners at War cast.

What made it notable for a lot of viewers was it led to the Queen of Survivor — Sandra Diaz-Twine — getting sent to the Edge of Extinction much earlier than expected.

Earlier in the episode, Sandra was shown trying to work out a deal with Denise Stapley. The offer that Sandra made was that she would trade her Individual Immunity Idol for two Fire Tokens.

Denise — who was at risk of getting voted out at Tribal Council — jumped at the opportunity. She received more safety and took an Idol away from the only two-time winner that the show as seen.

Heading to Tribal Council, it appeared that Sandra was extremely pleased with herself, almost like she was convinced that she had just made a brilliant move and was about to impress the viewers at home.

Who voted Sandra off Survivor?

At Tribal Council, a brief chat was had before host Jeff Probst asked for the Dakal Tribe to place their votes.

As a reminder, the members of the new Dakal were Jeremy Collins, Denise Stapley, Tony Vlachos, Sandra Diaz-Twine, and Kim Spradlin-Wolfe.

After the votes had been placed, Jeff went to his podium and prepared to start reading them off. That was when Denise interrupted him to play Sandra’s Immunity Idol to protect herself.

Sandra was pleased with the results that were playing out. It appeared like she felt even more confident that Denise had voted out Jeremy, using the Idol to discount the votes against her.

That’s not what happened.

When Denise sat back down, she called Jeff’s attention again, digging into her bag and walking back up to him with her own Individual Immunity Idol.

She then played it to protect Jeremy — who she had been in an alliance with — and to discount any votes against him.

Jeff read the votes, and as expected, the first four of them were for Denise.

This meant that the last vote, which was the one that Denise Stapley had submitted, would decide who was going to Extinction Island next.

Survivor blindside

Denise voted Sandra off Survivor and made a bold move that still has people talking about it on social media.

Now, Sandra Diaz-Twine joins the likes of Parvati Shallow and Rob Mariano at the Edge of Extinction.

The tribes were shocked when they learned Rob had been voted out. How will they react when they learn that Sandra is gone as well?

Survivor: Winners at War airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on CBS.
