The Bachelorette winner Josh Murray and his friends are recovering after a Fourth of July drunk driver caused a heartbreaking crash. The reality star shared the horrific news on his Instagram story.

On Tuesday, July 6, Josh explained what happened to the group and how everyone is doing today.

“Sorry if I’ve been MIA for a couple days to those asking, figured this was easier to write here – my friends and I were hit by a drunk driver on the lake a couple days ago after the fireworks – one of my buds got hurt bad but thankfully will recover after many surgeries,” he wrote.

“Others were shaken up obviously. I’m fine physically for most part,” he continued.

“Anyways, hope y’all had a great 4th and be safe out there. Just got my phone back, so sorry for no responses for a couple days. Say a couple prayers for my bud when u get a chance,” Josh concluded and followed his statement with a prayer hands emoji.

He did not offer any additional details regarding the incident.

Josh has been a favorite of Bachelor Nation for years

Josh first came to the attention of Bachelor Nation after appearing on Andi Dorfman‘s season of The Bachelorette. He cemented his feelings for the stunning brunette by putting a ring on his feelings in 2014.

One year later, the couple ended their engagement and Andi set the reality world ablaze upon the publication of her book It’s Not Okay, where she pulled back the curtain on her life in the Bachelorette bubble and revealed her version of the details surrounding her failed engagement.

On the heels of their breakup, Andi admitted to throwing everything that reminded her of Josh into a fireplace and set the items on fire.

After appearing on and winning the third season of Bachelor in Paradise in 2016, Josh became engaged to Amanda Stanton but the couple later split.

Josh has since tried to put his Bachelor past behind him

The former reality star claimed in an interview with E! Entertainment Television in December 2019 that his reality show experience was “tough.”

“Just all the negativity afterward, and all the lies, and all the dishonesty, and all the hyperbole and the statements that were out there,” he explained.

“It was just very tough dealing with that. I’m a people pleaser, so I enjoy people in general and what happened was very tough on me having to deal with people believing certain things that weren’t true. And I guess I have got to take responsibility because I also put myself in those situations.”

According to his Instagram, the former Bachelor Nation star is now a gym owner in the Atlanta area and a cryptocurrency trader.
