The NCIS: New Orleans return date has been announced by CBS. It will mark the first new episode that will take place for the show this winter. And it is going to take place in the brand new time slot as well.

Following the fall finale that is going to take place on Tuesday, December 17, NCIS: NOLA fans have a long wait until the next new episode. That’s an unfortunate piece of news, especially with some changes coming to the show.

The exit of Lucas Black as character Christopher Lasalle has been difficult for fans of the show, so it is going to be interesting to see if all viewers follow the show to its new spot on the CBS schedule. Beginning with the winter premiere, the NCIS spin-off is going to air on Sunday nights.

NCIS: New Orleans return date

The first new winter 2020 episode of NCIS: New Orleans will debut on Sunday, February 16. It’s also the same night that NCIS: Los Angeles will return from its own winter break, so fans will definitely be clamoring for new episodes.

Having NOLA and LA on the same night is an experiment by CBS to see if viewers will stay tuned late on Sunday evenings. Having the shows sandwiched like that could also lead to more crossover opportunities in the near future.

The writers may need a strong episode for the fall finale and a good addition to the NCIS: New Orleans cast in order to spur interest. Sunday nights at 10/9c isn’t exactly the best time slot for a show to succeed.

As for what is happening on Tuesday nights, CBS wants to put the FBI spin-off right behind its parent show. The new show, called FBI: Most Wanted, has a season premiere date of January 7.

Can the show continue the success that the network has been having on Tuesday nights? Recent ratings have CBS still leading the way.

NCIS: New Orleans currently airs Tuesday nights at 10/9c on CBS.
