This week Ghost Adventures investigates a former old folks home & orphanage, run by the Odd Fellows’ Secret Society.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) are one of the most numerous fraternal orders in the country and their purpose is to help members and their families.

The first lodge was started way back in 1935 and the asylum in Liberty,MO., was used by them from around 1900. It took in the elderly, the young and the infirm and offered them sanctuary when they were at their most vulnerable.
However, it seems that it was not all happy families and rumors of paranormal activity have haunted the building for decades.

There are also some lurid tales of the rituals carried out by the order, some involving the remains of deceased members. It seems bones were used to remind living members of their own mortality and so teach important lesson. But has this led to some unintended consequences?

In addition there were hundreds of deaths at the asylum, the cemetery holds over 500 souls.

The building complex is now a winery and event venue.
