It was announced that the A Quiet Place Part II film premiere has been postponed due to the coronavirus, which has dominated the news cycle, especially in the last 24 hours.

The new release date is still unknown.

Variety reported that Paramount Studios and filmmaker John Krasinski and star Emily Blunt’s thriller was “delayed amid concerns around an escalating coronavirus pandemic.”

The entertainment community is reeling from the pandemic spread and has already pushed the blockbuster James Bond film No Time To Die starring Daniel Craig until the fall of this year.

What is A Quiet Place Part II?

This is the sequel to A Quiet Place that debuted in April 2018.

Few horror films made the impact like the first A Quiet Place, penned by Bryan Woods, Scott Beck, and John Krasinski, and based on the original story by Woods and Beck.

It stars Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski, who also directed the film.

The chilling family drama centered on a post-doomsday America where something — initially, we are not sure what — attacked the planet. Eventually, we learn that the elusive enemy aliens are poor of sight but insanely acute in their sense of hearing.

This has left the few human survivors to live in an ultra-quiet existence, to the point of securing the perimeter of their walkabouts and home with soft sand to muffle the noise, and never speaking out loud.

The sequel picks up with Evelyn Abbott (Blunt) and her surviving children.

After the death of Lee Abbott, Krasinski’s character, the deadly events Evelyn and their children faced together have now become a new set of challenges and pure terror as they make their way to the outside world.

Together, they continue their fight for survival in silence. Krasinski will appear in flashbacks for the sequel.

Paramount wrote: “Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”

Krasinski used Instagram to alert fans that the film would be shelved until the pandemic fears were over.

He said:

The action continues as Evelyn must now shepherd the children safely and remain silent for fear of attracting the hyper-sound sensitive aliens whose lightning-fast reactions are so jarring that it made the first film a highly rated hit and money-making blockbuster for producers.

In the trailer, you will see glimpses of the new stars Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Peaky Blinders) and Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou:

A Quiet Place Part II is set to come out later in 2020.
