Ghost Adventures visits the residential area of Chatsworth, LA, where a brutal double murder took place

This week on Ghost Adventures, Zak Bagans and the crew investigate reports of paranormal activity at a house where a brutal double murder took place.

It was in 1996 Chatsworth, Los Angeles, when Richard and Donna Landau were murdered in their Chatsworth home after enduring a night of terror.

They were the victim of a home invasion that went from a robbery to a horrific ordeal, it was so violent that the trial judge later described as the worst case he’d come across in 17 years.

Each of them was woken up in turn before being bound with tape, plastic bags placed over their heads and then shot. 43-year-old Richard was shot in the chest and his wife Donna, 39, was shot in the same place and then smothered.

Their 15-year-old son Jonathan was also shot in the leg, but pretended to be dead and survived by hiding on the roof.

Rickey Smith Jr., 20, who was a friend of one of the Landau’s sons, was found guilty of multiple counts of robbery, conspiracy, murder with special circumstances and attempted murder. He was sentenced to life without parole and his cousin, who helped in the crime, was given a minimum of 60 years.

The current homeowner claims to have heard demonic voices and the team take part in a seance to try and contact the dead.

Also on this episode, during the investigation the team find themselves being pushed out by a dark force.

Ghost Adventures airs Saturdays at 9:00 PM on Travel Channel.
