If people go by what happened on the Monday Night Raw following SummerSlam, they might expect that WWE is heading toward a Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles match at Clash of Champions in September.

While WWE is reportedly looking at a champion vs. champion match, it isn’t Styles vs. Rollins that they are considering.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Ringside News), the idea right now is for Braun Strowman to get a massive push.

Fans have questioned WWE on why they don’t push Strowman more. The idea so far is that Braun is like Andre the Giant – a special attraction wrestler who does not need a title to remain a major star. However, Braun wants more and has said as much.

The biggest problem with letting Braun Strowman win a major singles title is that he is a gigantic wrestler and is favored to win every match, and a champion who is never the underdog gets boring very fast.

However, WWE might be ready to give Braun Strowman the ball and see what he can do with it.

Rumors have it that Braun Strowman will get a United States title shot on Monday Night Raw next week against AJ Styles. If Strowman beats Styles for the title, he will then get a champion vs. champion match with Seth Rollins at Clash of Champions.

This is just a rumor for now, and WWE has a full month to build to the pay-per-view, but it is what some inside WWE has in mind. Another idea is to set up Strowman vs. Rollins without Braun winning the U.S. title in a more convoluted manner.

“[Braun Strowman] really should win the title here although they can always have him have Styles down, have Gallows & Anderson run in for the DQ and have Rollins save him to return the favor from this past week.”

With Paul Heyman now in charge of the book on Monday Night Raw, anything could happen.

WWE Monday Night Raw airs Mondays at 8/7c on USA Network.
