After a week, the CM Punk trial ended the day that the jury went into deliberations. The final decision was in favor of Punk and his friend Colt Cabana, where the court found them not liable for damages in the lawsuit filed by Dr. Chris Amann.
Pro Wrestling Sheets reported that the jury returned after closing arguments took place this afternoon and found in favor of the defendants. The CM Punk trial concerned whether or not he and his friend Colt Cabana were liable for damaging the career of Dr. Amann after a podcast episode they took part in.
The podcast was Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling, and Punk said that a WWE doctor misdiagnosed a staph infection on his back and also gave him X-Pak’s instead of treating him for various injuries. Amann said that he suffered damage to his reputation and harassment by the fans on Twitter.
Dr. Amann still works for the WWE, who stood by him through the entire lawsuit.
Dr. Amann sued for $4 million — $1 for all four million downloads of the podcast episode. After closing arguments, the jury only deliberated for two hours. CM Punk, Colt Cabana, Dr. Amann and Punk’s wife AJ Lee were among those to testify in the case.
After the CM Punk trial ended, WrestleZone had a correspondent at all the days of the trial recapping it online, and he spoke to Punk after the case.
“I’m happy for my friend Colt Cabana, who I think was dragged into this for silly reasons, but just in general, I’m super appreciative and happy that the jury came to that verdict,” Punk said “They think I had truth on my side, obviously I did, and common sense prevailed.”

When asked about the victory, WrestleZone also reported that Colt Cabana said that it was nerve-racking, but he was never concerned about losing because they were in the right. Cabana also said that this was a “punk kid” and a “guy who loves wrestling” against a doctor from the WWE “coming at us.”
