This week Your Worst Nightmare spotlights the brutal murder of an 18-year-old girl and the rape of her older cousin.
Cousins 27-year-old Jennifer Holiday and 18-year-old Anna Franklin were out seeing some friends late one night when whilst they were driving on Highway 69 near Lufkin someone shot at their car.
Jennifer was hit on the arm and was forced to pull over due to glass and blood in her face. As her cousin Anna called 911 a man approached and asked if they were OK. It soon became apparent he was the shooter and as Anna began screaming he returned form his truck with a shotgun and shot her in the back of the head.
He then dragged Jennifer into the woods where he raped her before torturing her with both a cigarette and needle. Luckily the teen was sharp witted and convinced the disturbed man to take her back to his house, where she persuaded him to not kill her and even had him believing that she loved him.
The man was 31-year-old Eric Parnell who eventually pleaded guilty to a capital murder charge and aggravated sexual assault, he was given two life sentences and waived the right to appeal.
